7 Encouraging Benefits of Waking Up Early

It’s 6 a.m., and I am feeling fresh and energetic as I write this post. Coincidently, I planned to write on the benefits of waking up early. I have this habit of waking up early in the morning for years, which has benefited me greatly. And it’s not only me; many great personalities wake up early and utilize the peaceful morning.

The Apple CEO Tim Cook wakes up at 3:45 a.m. every morning and does e-mail for an hour before going to the gym. Michelle Obama wakes up at 4:30 a.m. for the morning workout. The famous Indian actor Akshay Kumar wakes up at 5.30 a.m. every morning and retires to bed by 9 p.m. Tim Armstrong, the AOL CEO, starts his day at 5 a.m. This list has no end.

Waking up early is not a groundbreaking and innovative idea; you have heard this since your childhood. We all know we should wake up early, but how many of us do so? I believe very few.

But if you understand the benefits of waking up early, maybe you get inspired to do so. This has happened to me; I got the inspiration to wake up early from my parents. So, here I have listed some benefits of waking up early which may motivate you to be a morning person-

7 benefits of waking up early

1. Increases productivity

Waking up early in the morning increases your productivity substantially and helps you manage your time. I have been experiencing this since my childhood, and it further motivates me to wake up early.

Our productivity is directly proportional to the time spent in the work and the intensity of focus. Our brain tends to be in a peak performance state in the morning, increasing our ability to focus on complex things. On top of this, you get more time for your work when you wake up early. Since both time and focus increase when you wake up early, your productivity also increases.

– Jeff Bozos

2. Makes you feel energetic and positive

Sometimes, due to some outside interference, I sleep late and wake up late. These are the worst days for me as it makes me feel highly blunt and lazy. But when I wake up early, I feel energetic throughout the day, which also makes me cheerful. When you wake up early, follow your morning rituals consisting of exercise, meditation, etc., you would have already completed some work. This is highly beneficial as it gives you a sense of completeness and a feeling that you are productive. In addition, it increases your confidence and positivity.

3. Improves the mental condition

Researches suggest that getting up early in the morning can reduce your stress and improve your mental condition. In one such research, it was found that those who wake up late are more likely to get depressed in life than those who wake up early.

It is of the best benefits of waking up early. And, I have experienced this, sometimes I feel stressed during the day due to some cause, and I keep feeling the same until I sleep and wake up fresh. Sleeping helps you forget all your worries and gives a rest to your brain from negativity.

“Early sleep and early wake up gives health and makes you grow.”
– Portuguese Proverb

4. A peaceful morning

Who doesn’t like a peaceful morning? It’s a great way to start your routine, which helps you face complex problems throughout the day. When you wake up early, maybe at 4 a.m. or 5 a.m., nearly everyone will be sleeping. This results in a peaceful time to work. At this time, you can do deep work and create something valuable. And by the time others wake up, you would have completed many productive works which will further make you confident.

“Wake up early and tackle the day before it tackles you. Be on offense, not defense.”
– Evan Carmichael

5. Makes you organized

I have seen many people who wake up late rush to their work or college; they don’t have time to eat, leave alone meditation and exercise. I feel this type of life is pathetic and highly unorganized. However, I live an organized life, and I credit this to my habit of waking up early. This habit will give you enough time to plan your day ahead, and you would know what you have to do and what not.

6. Gives you time for a morning ritual

You may not get time for exercise or meditation if you wake up late, and your health will get degraded. On the other hand, waking up early will give you time to follow your morning rituals. A morning ritual is a fixed set of actions you do every morning before starting your day. A good morning ritual consists of habits like- exercise, meditation, reading books, and eating breakfast. This helps you sharpen your body, mind, and your soul.

“It’s easier to wake up early and work out than it is to look in the mirror each day and not like what you see.”
– Jayne Cox

7. Helps in sleeping properly

Yes, waking up early can help you take a good night’s sleep. If you are waking up early, it means you had slept early, which further means you had enough time to sleep. This improves your quality of sleep. Also, since you are waking up early, you will work throughout the day, and by 9–10 p.m., you will be tired enough to sleep. And have you experienced that when you are tired, you tend to sleep deeply? So now I hope you are going to wake up early.

Conclusion

Waking up early is one of the best habits you can make for living a better life. This habit increases your productivity, makes you organized, improves your mental condition, helps you sleep properly, and makes you positive and confident. Waking up early with a good morning ritual is the best way to begin your day.

These were the 7 benefits of waking up early. I hope it helped you.
